Our Suites

Luxuriate in the grandeur of our five Ranee Suites nestling under the sturdy eaves of the old shophouse, in the Loft! Inspired and named after Margaret de Windt, Sarawak’s first Ranee (meaning wife of a Rajah); Sylvia, her daughter-in-law, and Leonora,  Elizabeth, Valerie – her three grand-daughters.

Each of the 24 spacious suites is custom-designed and elegantly furnished, blending in the old and the new.  Indeed, no two suites are alike each has its own individuality, charm and characteristics. Wide windows and verandahs open onto scenic vistas of the bustling bazaar, the river, the colonial heritage buildings.  Each room has a telephone, free internet access and satellite TV, en-suite bathroom, complimentary mini bar and of course, tea/coffee making facilities.  Most of the suites include a large individual standing bathtub – perfect for couples looking for a romantic getaway!

Two central air-wells, one with a cascade of lush greenery and the other an indoor water feature, are how our forbears kept their homes cool. Today, we provide individually controlled air-conditioning units which allow guests to adjust the temperature to their own level of comfort; or to avail themselves of the natural alternative of open windows and ceiling fans.

Two Standard Suites are located on the entrance floor for the convenience of guests who would rather not climb stairs or use the lift. Each of these open to the indoor garden and water feature of the air well.

Suites on the Reading Lounge Floor surround an airy lounge, well suited to relaxing, browsing in our small library, or mingling with fellow-guests.

The Top Floor is well above the downtown bustle. Each verandah opens out to a panoramic view of Kuching, the river, the bustling scenes below.
